The organizers of the Kansas City Chalk & Walk Festival seek artists to participate in the Sept. 8 and Sept. 9 event at Crown Center. The application deadline is Aug. 1. Artists must commit to both days.
Applicants must provide a print, digital file or photo with their name and a brief description of the specific 2012 street painting image or theme. Artists can fall into three categories: Masters, Under the Sea or Original. No artist, new or returning, will be accepted without a sketch and brief description of their proposed street painting.
Artwork must be appropriate for the festival: no obscenity, vulgarity and words or symbols intended as advertisement.
Only non-oily soft chalk pastels will be provided to all artists. Any predominant colors need to be purchased before the festival. No oil-based pastels, acrylic paints, hard pastels, fixatives, or food coloring will be allowed.
