Heartland Chamber Music Festival July 27-Aug. 4

The Heartland Chamber Music Festival will feature more than 130 students, faculty, and guest performers on seven concerts over the course of the nine-day summer festival at Johnson County Community College July 27–August 4.

All concerts are held in Yardley Hall of the Carlsen Center through a partnership between the Heartland Music Academy and JCCC’s Performing Arts Series Arts Education Program. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Concert Schedule

·        Faculty Concert:  2 p.m. Sunday, July 29 (Free admission)

·        Faculty Concert:  1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 (Free admission)

·        Junior Festival Student Concert:  3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 (Free admission)

·        Miami String Quartet: 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 (Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door through the JCCC box office 913-469-4445. Youth 18 and under are free.)

·        Festival Scholars Concert (with the Festival Quartet, Fairway Quartet and ELF Quartet): 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3

·        Festival Student Concert I: 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4

·        Festival Student Concert II: 7 p.m. Saturday Aug. 4

This year the Heartland Chamber Music Festival added two additional concerts and three fully funded Festival Scholar string quartets chosen for their exceptional musicianship and artistry. The Festival Scholars will work closely with Ivan Chan and the artist-mentors of the acclaimed Miami String Quartet.

Passionato, the inaugural benefit for the Heartland Music Academy will take place immediately following the Festival Scholars Concert on August 3. Tickets for Passionato are $50 and can be purchased through the Heartland Music Academy website:

The Heartland Music Academy inspires young musicians through the study and performance of chamber music within a community of nationally recognized artists serving as mentors. The summer festival, now celebrating its eleventh year, offers programs for beginners, students and elite ensembles.
