Wounded Nature: Group Exhibition

April 7 - April 21

Wounded Nature – an exhibition featuring new works by Kelly Gazlay, Thomas Luna, Andrew Lyles, Sean Prudden, Crista Siglin, and Lauren Sobchak

On view from 4.7.2017 – 4.21.2017

Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling was a German idealist who provocatively stated that “Creation begins with dissonance, [and] without contradiction, there would be no life, no progress, just slumber.” This is the focus of an exhibition titled “Wounded Nature” featuring works from Crista Siglin, Andrew Lyles, Lauren Sobchak, Thomas Luna, Kelly Gazlay, and Sean Prudden. Spanning many different disciplines including sculpture, sound, fiber, installation and painting, these artists address the constant struggle of attempting to bring to fruition worlds or environments that are a representation of an unstable tension in becoming. By challenging systems of creation and through the investigation of opposed ways of constructing, these artists bring forth distinct approaches to the artist practice in relation to human nature and in the process strive to define what it means as an artist to investigate one’s nature of becoming.
