The Kansas City Wind Symphony’s 19th Season Begins

For nearly 20 years, the Kansas City Wind Symphony (KCWS) has managed not only to exist in an increasingly crowded classical music environment, but indeed to thrive.  As the curtain on the ensemble’s 19th season is about to rise, the KCWS will observe some important milestones.  From the departure of its longest serving conductor to its third trip to Helzberg Hall this November, it continues to exemplify the highest aspirations of every community ensemble in Kansas City.  Writing in KC Metropolis, R. Douglas Helvering commented ‘…one can only hope that the Kansas City Wind Symphony continues to grow and bless our region with great music in the years to come’.

In his final season as conductor of the Kansas City Wind Symphony, Dr. Phil Posey has planned an exciting array of concerts for the ensemble’s 19th season. The opening free concert “A Night at the Opera” features international opera star, Qiulin Zhang  along with Jacob Sentgeorge, tenor, and Ron Witzke, baritone. The program includes selections from Carmen and other opera favorites. Their first concert is October 9th at 7:00 PM at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road in Prairie Village, Kansas.
