Welcome to the Heart of the Kansas City Crossroads Art District
The Leedy-Voulkos Art Center has showcased regional, national, and international artists for 27 years with an attempt to help establish Kansas City as a center for the arts. We continue the founder’s legacy of sharing professional resources with developing artists. We do this by balancing exceptional exhibition programming with education and community outreach. Quality has always been a goal, showing crafts along side installation, painting, and sculpture. The founding footprint of the Crossroads Art District, we are located on Baltimore Avenue between 20th Street and the Freighthouse Restaurants.

About the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center

We exist to exhibit compelling shows of international talent, while providing a venue for local, regional, and national artists to develop their careers. We exist to help build and support professional art making in order to retain Kansas City’s talent and to conduct educational programming in support of our exhibition schedule.

My first step after the election was over, was to restrict my news intake to one hour per day to manage the effect of the information on my conscious,…

Accumulation – Sarah Hearn

March 2, 2018 - May 26, 2018

I am an interdisciplinary visual artist researching how humans can collaborate with, understand and learn from nature. My creative practice is strongly rooted in photography, drawing, site-specific installation and participatory culture. As a citizen researcher I incorporate components of the scientific method into my process. Through earnest investigations of biological life and natural phenomena, I make work that reveals shifting boundaries between science, pseudoscience and science fiction. Accumulation For centuries people have struggled to accurately forecast the weather. In modern…
