Northland Symphony Orchestra Presents Concert Oct. 14

Erin Hefta will be the soloist in The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughn Williams. She started violin lessons at the age of five in Birmingham, Alabama, as a student of Florence Skidmore Hale and later with Marilyn Pipkin.  In Kansas City, where she spent her middle school and high school years, Erin studied violin with Judy Koster and performed in ensembles including the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Kansas City.  Performing her violin solo at the National Fine Arts Convention in 2005, she placed 9th in the nation.  A 2006 graduate of Park Hill South High School, Erin holds a Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, where her professional orchestra career began.

Erin has enjoyed leadership performance positions with the orchestra at Evangel University and the Springfield Drury Civic Orchestra; freelance engagements have included the Springfield Symphony and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.  She continues to reside in Springfield where she offers private instruction in addition to her services as a violinist.  Currently the Graduate Assistant for Orchestra at Missouri State University, Erin is pursuing a Master of Violin Pedagogy and Performance Degree.

 Other pieces include George Butterworth’s The Banks of Green Willow.
