Summerfest Anniversary Concert Details

J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 has long been on the wish list of the Summerfest musicians and will feature a larger than ever ensemble featuring Summerfest co-founder, Mary Grant, on violin and longtime member and Artistic Advisor, Shannon Finney on flute.

The celebration also allows Summerfest to assemble a large ensemble for Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite.

Summerfest will conclude the musical portion of the celebration with William Walton’s Façade.  This piece combines eclectic instrumentation, (this will be the first use of saxophone in a Summerfest performance) with the whimsical narration of Edith Sitwell poems.  Summerfest is thrilled to welcome Robert Gibby Brand and Lindsey McKee to the Summerfest stage to provide narration.

The reception following will be the icing on the cake of the celebration, complete with champagne toast and plenty of nostalgia and celebration to go around.  Discount tickets are available now through central ticket office or by visiting www.summerfestkc.org.
