Summit Art Announces 10th Annual Summit Art Festival

Summit Art is proud to announce their 10th Annual art festival in Lee’s Summit, MO.  In 2017 they accepted over 90 national, regional and local artist booths to fill the streets of SW Main and 3rd St.

Formerly the Longview Art & World Music Festival, the Summit Art Festival is proud to announce the most exciting and diverse line up of artist in the festivals history.  The artists selected to attend the 2017 event were chosen by an independent jury of professional artists.  According to Teresa Hogan Keene, Director of the Event:

“We were so excited about the quality of applicants to this years festival.  It is our hope as an organization that this fantastic art festival will continue to grow year after year and garner a name as a premier art event in the KC Metro.  This year we are pleased to have over 90 artists representing 8 states.”

The 2017 Summit Art Festival will be held October 6th through 8th in historic Downtown Lee’s Summit and will feature juried artists and artisans exhibiting original two-dimensional art, photography, sculpture, jewelry, textiles, ceramics, wood, metal, and glass pieces for purchase. The event is the only full weekend festival of its kind in eastern Jackson County. Produced by Summit Art, a not-for-profit professional artist organization, the Summit Art Festival is a 100 percent volunteer effort.

Other highlights of the event include Lee’s Summit R-7 Schools, grades 7 – 12 art pavilion, the T-Mobile “Kids Zone” interactive hands on art area, MCC-Longview Student and Faculty exhibit, Lees’ Summit R-7 Schools Live Mural Art. Street cuisine will be featured for hungry festival attendees as well as downtown restaurants open and featuring specials for festival goers.  There will also be live entertainment with musicians playing at three musical stations throughout the venue.
