The Kansas City, Kansas Public Library is thrilled to have three accomplished local artists participating in the Big Draw this year.

Robin Case is a studio painter, indoor muralist, and teaching artist. Currently a KC resident transplanted from New Orleans, she’s taught art workshops at Synergy House, and Kansas City Young Audiences, plus, she’s led mural programs in area schools such as Grandview High. Her most recent project can be seen at the Brush Creek Community Center, part of the MapIt Program partnered by the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department and the Mattie Rhodes Center. Her mural for the Kansas City, Kansas Library is in the foyer at the South branch. Studio and gallery work include participation in the Leedy Voulkos fundraising exhibition for victims of the Joplin tornado. Robin is the lead artist for the Big Draw and will facilitate a group mural project.

Monique Gabrielle Salazar is a writer, artist, musician and small business owner living and working in Kansas City. Salazar was recently featured on KCUR’s poetry segment “WORD” and was reviewed in Camp Magazine for her debut EP. She will also be published in “Chicken Soup for the Soul” this coming October. Salazar is currently at work creating new visual art and making one of a kind ties and pocket squares for her company, Salazar Cravats. She will lead interactive sidewalk chalk drawings in front of the library at the Big Draw.

A contemporary Fine Artist and Poet, Timothy Barr Rowland, is also known as Re Ti Ro, blue dog and timbarow. His work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and displayed internationally in both private and public collections. His piece titled “The Blue Dog” has been accepted to the permanent collection at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is best known for his traditional work in oil painting, often being called a Primitive painter working in a myriad of styles. He loves the term “fin de siècle” when being described as an inspirational modern artist. Tim will lend his creative energy to the Big Draw and encourage visitors to be creative too.

Come be inspired by these great artists and create a great work of your own!
