Kansas City’s premier art photographer will take a turn in the limelight with the Feb. 3 opening of“E.G. Schempf – Pedestal View” at Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art. “E.G. has been photographing the evolution of the arts in KC since the 1970s,” Leedy said, “and, in fact, what we and others think of as the KC art scene is based largely on the images that he has taken.” The shots in the show were made while he was out documenting other artists’ work, Schempf says. “Some are of different galleries at night or when the lights are turned off, but most are incidental views of the world I work in.”

“E.G. Schempf – Pedestal View” continues through March 24 at Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art, 2004 Baltimore. Hours are 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday and by appointment. For more information, 816.221.2626. www.sherryleedy.com
