Support Music Access for Children in the Urban Core with Harmony Project KC

Together, Kansas City is building an orchestra of diverse and deserving children in the urban core! It’s called Harmony Project KC. This orchestra, which is the flagship program of the Northeast Community Center, is a research-based, youth mentorship program that provides music instruction, practice, performance opportunities and character development to underserved children, with the goal of keeping them in school, improving academic performance, and developing a college readiness mindset. Built through a public health perspective, HPKC serves children throughout their entire childhood (K-12) during their most vulnerable hours: after-school and on weekends.

The Northeast Community Center has been the cornerstone of care in the neighborhood for 75+ years. It is home to a wide variety of wraparound services through partner agencies, including: translation services, food distribution, early childhood intervention, adult education, refugee services, and more.
