Art in the Park Lawrence for Art, Food and Music
The 59th Lawrence Art Guild Art in the Park will be in Downtown Lawrence’s beautiful shade filled South Park September 16 and 17. With 125 fine art booths – from detailed drawings to large abstract paintings, metal sculptures, fine jewelry, fiber art and intricate ceramics. 15 bands, food trucks, craft beer from FreeState Brewery and more. KC Clay Guild Raku Night
Join us for our annual Raku Night! Participants will choose a piece of bisqueware to glaze. Our kiln crew will raku fire the pieces while you enjoy live music, food trucks, and free beer from Boulevard and KC Bier Co. Your piece will be ready to take home about an hour after it has been fired. All proceeds from Raku Night 2023 support the KC Clay Guild mission to promote the appreciation of and participation in ceramic arts through group and individual education programs, public outreach and the creation of a diverse ceramic arts community.

Workers at one of the last remaining Detroit auto-plants must decide how to move forward when the plant goes under. Then closing out Season 19, comes the classic British thriller GASLIGHT (ANGEL STREET) by Patrick Hamilton, starting January 17. Detailing a marriage based on deceit, and a husband committed to driving his wife to the brink of insanity.

Bespoke Bodies: The Design & Craft of Prosthetics provides a unique historical context to explore urgent contemporary conversations around design and disability. Featuring close to 50 prosthetics from around the world – spanning a prosthetic leg from WWI to mind-controlled bionic limbs – Bespoke Bodies is now open at the National WWI Museum and Memorial. Bespoke Bodies: The Design and Craft of Prosthetics is presented in collaboration with Design Museum Everywhere.

Park ICM Season Celebrates Astonishing Students Plus World Renowned Visiting Artists
Under the direction of Van Cliburn Gold Medalist Stanislav Ioudenitch, Park ICM has taken magnificent young instrumentalists, already identified as superior performers, and molded them into international virtuosos. Based upon the European master/apprentice relationship, this rare combination has made Park ICM triumphant in a very short time, demanding the attention of the international music community. 2023-2024 brings virtuoso friends old and new and continues to showcase Park ICM’s own award-winning faculty and students, resulting in a season packed with musicianship of the highest order.

New Chapter includes the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art’s recent acquisitions from the past two years —most on view for the first time. This exhibition showcases the curatorial vision of the museum’s current Executive Director and Chief Curator JoAnne Northrup, who took the helm in 2021 and is leading the museum into the next chapter with a schedule of exciting exhibitions and inspired additions to the museum’s permanent collection.
