Leawood Fine Art invites you to the exhibition of solo work by international contemporary artist Heather L. Lowe, opening today.
In this exhibition, you’ll find a lot of unique materials within the paintings – a process defined by Lowe as “The Alchemy Art Process.” Alchemy Art is an evolving process that Lowe modifies and manifests into some of the world’s most energetic works. The paint is infused with crystalline materials that are sourced from mines from around the globe. Incubated from her years at GIA (Gemological Institute Of America) Santa Monica, CA – Lowe has a love and knowledge for minerals, mines, gemstones, and their historic and energetic significance. Quartz is always added as the top layer placed only in spring water, allowing the piezoelectricity to charge the water. The ionic bonds change at the plank and molecular levels. Piezoelectricity is what runs our quartz watches.
Other incredible minerals like peridot, beryl, tourmaline, and any precious and semi-precious gemstones, are added into Poppyseed oil and then into the paint. Beryl- Be3AI2(SIO3) has many well-known varieties; emerald, aquamarine, morganite, and others.
Beeswax is one of the most used natural materials Lowe uses to dissipate the energy into neutral states. This is the process where intentions are set with regards to acknowledging the artwork as a conduit of energy’s higher consciousness.
“I want the buyer and those in possession or presence of the artwork to sense the seen and unseen. They can approach the work in a calm, maybe almost meditative state and extract through morphic resonance the appeal the work presents.”
With such strong ties to the earth within her work, Lowe wanted to take that a step further by having her paintings interpreted as floral arrangements. How could the colors and forms be represented with one of the most organic and beautiful organisms on earth? How could the colors of the minerals in her paints be found in colors within flowers? Collaborating with other businesses in the KC community was a way for Lowe to shine a light on the vast creativity throughout. She has invited the finest florists from the KC metro to pair arrangements with select paintings in her collection.
Be sure to stop by the official opening reception on March 4, 2022 from 5-9pm which will give the public a chance to familiarize themselves with Lowe’s work as she will give an artist talk about her process and take guests on a personalized tour of her work. There will be flowers inspired by her work there, but not the final pairings, which will be displayed at the Reveal Celebration March 25, 2022. At each reception, there will be free stems available to take as a memento from the exhibition and all of the pieces featured will be for sale.
