Celebrating nature’s alluring power while simultaneously warning of the perils that threaten our natural world, “Big Botany: Conversations with the Plant World,” is a sweeping botanical tapestry of works by 50 artists spanning six centuries. Five years in the planning, the exhibit at the Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence reflects a lifetime passion of curator Stephen Goddard.

Musical Theater Heritage Brings “Cats” Up to Scratch in New Production
You can detect a tone of defiant pride when Tim Scott tells you he has never seen “Cats.” “Not once,” he said. “And I think that’s why I’m perfectly suited to direct it.” That Scott somehow made it this far in life without actually sitting through Andrew Lloyd Webber’s show (that at one time held the record for the longest-running musical in both London and New York), might strike you as odd.

Editor’s Weekend Calendar Picks, April 26 – 29
Fishtank Theatre is partnering with the Charlotte Street Foundation to present the regional premiere of Belfast Girls, a play by Jaki McCarrick at La Esquina in April 2018. A free, First Friday Open House and artist talk will take place on Friday, April 6, 2018 and 17 live, public performances will take place from April 7 through 29, 2018. The production is directed by CSF Fellow Heidi Van and features a cast consisting of Rasheedat Badejo, Annie Kalahurka, Erdin Schultz-Bever and others.
