Award-winning Bond: A Soldier and His Dog, with Logan Black, returns in expanded version.
2006 was one of the bloodiest years in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Iraqi society was fractured and eventually devolved into sectarian violence. Saddam Hussein was executed and a young man with a yellow lab at his side found himself right in the middle of it all. Based on his experiences as a Specialized Search Dog Handler and the year he spent working with SSD Diego in the Al Anbar province of Iraq, Logan Black tells the story of the intense bond created between K- 9 and handler.
Fringe Presents is remounting this award-winning show (Best Original Play by a Local Playwright, The Pitch Critics’ Awards 2015) after its successful run at the Bridge St. Theater, in Catskill, NY. With added material and an audience talk-back at every performance, this intense and moving one-man show lets the audience follow one man–and one dog’s–journey through war and its aftermath.
Performances at the The National World War I Museum and Memorial will conclude with a moving flag retirement ceremony to commemorate and honor U.S. veterans from all war
Partnering with the the Kansas City area chapter of Pets for Vets, Fringe Presents hopes to raise awareness of the impact of war and trauma on both our service people and animals, and the new bonds being created when veterans are united with an animal companion.
