Coming soon, Saturday, April 29th CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties will be hosting its annual event Promise of Hope: Stories On Stage. This spring event will incorporate a live theatre performance from the talented actors at GoodCapp Arts Youth Theater Ensemble from New York City. The young actors will be portraying the lives of those impacted by the foster care system, telling the stories of eight teenagers and their unique experiences in a compilation of monologues. CASA’s Promise of Hope event is one that brings the community together, sharing the organization’s mission for one common goal: to bring awareness to children who have experienced abuse and neglect.
CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties is an organization that provides children and youth who have experienced abuse and neglect with Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). CASA relies on dedicated volunteers who complete an in-depth, 6-week training, where they are provided with tools and knowledge for how to best serve the children living in their communities. Once certified within the courts, advocates are appointed by a judge to advocate for a child’s best interest. CASA Volunteers become a constant in the lives of the children they serve, communicating with all parties associated with the child. This enables the judges to develop a complete picture of each child’s life, allowing them to make the most well-informed decision for what’s next for each child.
CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties strives to provide a meaningful voice and connection for children in nearby communities with the advocacy programs and resources they offer. Through special events, fundraisers, and community support, CASA can provide for children who have experienced abuse and neglect throughout the year, assuring that volunteers have the proper tools to create a community where every child living in the foster care system has the opportunity to thrive.
