Concert 3: Vocalissimus
Saturday, February 19 8:00PM
All Souls UUC, 4501 Walnut, KCMO

You are cordially invited to experience a world of splendid musical color in newEar’s peerless February program. Departures from conventional notions of forms and instrumental capabilities will delight the ear and stimulate the mind!
Soprano Sarah Tannehill joins the ensemble for a refreshing take on the song cycle in the evening’s centerpiece, Sebastian Currier’s fascinating Vocalissimus. Much-lauded composer Sofia Gubaidulina upholds her reputation for evincing unique timbres from interesting instrumental combinations in her Duo Sonata for Two Baritone Saxophones. In Discernment of Time, Tomas Svoboda unlocks the contrapuntal possibilities of the solo gong. Reflexively, the title of Sara Carina Graef’s Consilience unites the acoustic and artistic properties of violin and piano to singular purpose. Flutings for Paula is Leon Kirchner’s rewarding exploration of the seldom-heard combination of flute and percussion. We hope you join us for this delightful winter evening of challenging and innovative music! Purchase tickets
