Several dynamic and impactful projects are on the horizon for the Kansas City Museum next year.
Plans include a new workforce and career development initiative for youth and young adults, ages 13 – 23, to support the next generation of museum and humanities leaders; new educational experiences for Corinthian Hall including exhibit media interactives and an AI video project with Big Sonia; and more transformational restoration and renovation of the 3.5-acre museum campus.
Your year-end contribution right now will help advance their mission and vision as a city museum and hub of the humanities. Click here to give or become a member.
The restoration and renovation of the entire 3.5-acre museum campus is an expansive multi-year, multi-staged endeavor and so is Making A Museum KC, our strategic capital campaign. Architectural design is in process and fundraising is ongoing. This campaign will support the restoration of the Carriage House, the James Turrell’s Sky Space and JewelHouse.
The Kansas City Museum is also honored and excited to announce that it will feature a conversational AI video project with great-grandmother, businesswoman, and Holocaust survivor Sonia Warshawski, lovingly known as Big Sonia.
Here is a behind-the-scenes video of the making-of for this project: Behind The Scenes: Big Sonia & StoryFile on Vimeo. This AI project with Sonia is similar to other “Dimensions In Testimony” projects at the USC Shoah Foundation.
Consider making a contribution to name a theater seat or a wood bench in Corinthian Hall. Custom nameplates are installed to each seat, and benches are made to order with custom nameplates.
The benches are designed and fabricated by Kansas City-based Urban Lumber using milled wood from tree trunks on the property that we have saved.
All proceeds from the seats and benches fund educational programs.
