Village Shalom has broken ground on a major campus expansion to its south — Overland Park Continuing Care Retirement Community, which will bring a 76-residence independent living community, free-standing memory care community, repurposed rehabilitation center with expanded therapy space, and a Main Street full of new amenities.
The Main Street corridor will serve as the entertainment hub of Village Shalom’s independent living community and will consist of high-end amenities designed to fulfill the unique desires of the next generation of senior living consumers.
Dining
Indulge your inner foodie without leaving the Village Shalom campus. Main Street’s casual-dining restaurant will offer indoor and outdoor seating and feature a wood-fired oven and chef demonstration kitchen.
Looking for something quick? Grab soup and salad or one of many other options at the bistro. Sit at the bar, a table or in a cozy booth with free Wi-Fi Internet service where you can charge your phone, tablet or laptop.
After hours, this area transforms into a comfortable lounge where you can grab a beer and catch the game at the bar or enjoy conversation with your friends over a hand-crafted cocktail.
Entertainment
Why go out when a first-class movie theater experience is right down the hall? The Main Street theater will provide an intimate movie-viewing experience with a serving station for refreshments. The theater will also have the ability to host speakers, entertainers and classes.
Pampering
Looking for a truly unique experience? Check out the Main Street day spa. This elegant setting will provide a true spa experience where you can not only get a new haircut, but also relax with a manicure, pedicure, facial or massage.
The amenities don’t stop there. The new community will also feature a 24-hour fitness area, game room, family room with kitchen and an artist studio. Main Street will also flow into a beautifully adorned outdoor courtyard with numerous entertainment options, including a pickleball court.
Construction is underway and the expansion is scheduled for completion in late 2019. More than 70 percent of the new independent living residences have been reserved, but a limited number of one- and two-bedroom apartments remain.
