Y’all Means All: The Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City Brings Country Music with a Message

Saddle up, Kansas City! The Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City (HMCKC) is ready to take you on a wild ride through the heart and soul of country music with their upcoming concert, Y’all Means All, March 21-23 at the Folly Theater. But this isn’t your typical country music concert—this is a celebration of diversity, storytelling, and belonging, told through the powerful voices of Kansas City’s premier men’s chorus.

More Than Just Country Pop

“Y’all Means All is about belonging,” says Evan Childress, chorus member. “We highlight the influence women, the queer community, and Black people have had on country music that sometimes gets lost in the mainstream. Country music is about telling stories, and this production shows that our voices matter.”

For Cedar Valdez, the concert is a chance to “celebrate queerness in a style of music that in my life has often been associated with conservative and closed-off communities. This concert makes me laugh, cry, smile, and all-around have a lot of fun with an energy of acceptance, togetherness, and hope.”

What to Expect

Expect more than just incredible harmonies and toe-tapping tunes. HMCKC’s Y’all Means All promises an emotional and engaging experience. From the hauntingly beautiful Brokeback Mountain Suite to the playful energy of How the West Was Fun, there’s something for everyone.

“I’m most excited about the duet I get to perform,” says Woaden Tayler. “I love the intimacy of duets and the way they tell stories.”

Longtime member Scott Englund is eager for a deeply personal moment: “I’m really looking forward to seeing She’s Got You come to life again on stage. It was one of my late husband’s trademark numbers. I’ll probably be bawling my eyes out, but I know Brandon, who will be performing it in this concert, will honor Kelly’s memory while putting his own stamp on it.”

Why You Shouldn’t Miss It

“This show will empower and drive folks to stand up, speak out, and support the LGBTQ community who is under attack,” says Ron Hobert. “I hope this show will motivate people to call their elected representatives and voice their outrage.”

For Tyler Harvey, Y’all Means All is “an opportunity to see beyond the ‘traditional’ scope of country music and challenge our perceptions of what the genre stands for.”

And if you’ve never been to an HMCKC show before, Matthew Allen promises, “You’ll laugh, sing along, maybe even shed a tear. But most of all, you’ll feel something. And in a world that can feel so divided, that kind of connection is everything.”Don’t miss Y’all Means All—where country music meets community, inclusion, and joy. March 21-23 at the Folly Theater. Tickets are on sale now only at hmckc.org.
