American Heartland Theatre Presents The Hound of the Baskervilles

houndahtweb

An ancient family curse, a spectral hound, a deranged killer on the loose – what could be more fun? American Heartland Theatre opens 2013 with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s story of mystery and suspense, The Hound of the Baskervilles. With its brilliant dialog and slapstick humor, this funny, fizzy adaption by Steven Canny and John Nicholson isn’t just for mystery buffs!

One after another, the male heirs of the Baskerville family are being knocked off. Sherlock Holmes, the greatest detective of all time, sends his faithful companion Dr. Watson to the countryside in order to prevent more bloodshed. Naturally, mayhem ensues.

Local actors Doogin Brown, Ken Remmert and John Wilson play all 16 roles in the production. Through creative use of props, accents and quick changes, the three inhabit characters ranging from the legendary team of Holmes and Watson to London cabbies, frightened townspeople and even a deep-voiced señorita.

Ken Remmert (Man 1) recently completed AHT’s run of Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical as the Father Virgil. John Wilson (Man 2) is also back for his third show at AHT, having previously been seen in The 39 Steps and Unnecessary Farce. Doogin Brown (Man 3) returns to AHT where he has been featured recently in the comic works The 39 Steps and As Long As We Both Shall Live.

William J. Christie (Direction, Production Stage Management, Properties Design) joined the AHT family as an usher, actor, director, stage manager, and properties designer in 1987. Christie has a knack for directing farces, including Unnecessary Farce, The 39 Steps and As Long As We Both Shall Live all at AHT.

Performances begin Friday, Jan. 11 and continue through Sunday, Feb. 24 . Listening devices and accessible seating is available for all performances.
