Vernon and Eddie are survivors of the street. Levon is an Iowa farm boy facing eviction. Noi is a pregnant Jamaican immigrant. It is Christmas Eve, so Vernon, in the spirit of the season, decides to provide shelter to this desperate couple. That shelter is a “house of ill repute,” run by Ms. Lacy and her two companions, Shanel and Carmen. But best laid plans often go awry.

To gaze at one is to watch a rosy sunset, lapping waves, the swirl of a geode, the path of a river twisting across the earth. With a lifelong love of textiles inspired by her mother’s sewing talents, Kincaid began exploring felt making six years ago and soon perfected the technique of turning wool fibers into perfectly balanced tabletop sculptures.

Composer and improviser, phonographer and performer, Shawn E. Hansen works outside: outside of convention, outside of expectations, and, sometimes, literally out-of-doors, outside the realm of the traditional concert stage or studio. Hansen received a 2018 Charlotte Street Generative Performing Artist Award.

Kansas City Symphony Executive Director Frank Byrne has been around tubas most of his life, including his early music career playing the big daddy of the brass family for the United States Marine Band. Byrne joined the band with the goal of being a full-time tuba player and wound up a full-time administrator.
