KCAI Fiber Classes: Papermaking, Shibori & Basic Sewing

kcaiKCAI offers many great new classes, such as Fiber classes in papermaking, shibori and basic sewing.

For artists, paper is a space with infinite possibilities for image and text. In the papermaking class, students will explore the art of hand papermaking by pushing the boundaries of what paper can be. Students will prepare the abaca pulp, learn to color, create texture and shape the sheet before pressing. Be prepared to get wet, have fun and learn how to make paper!

Take a class in shibori and discover the traditional Japanese method of resist dyeing in this class. You will learn folding and binding techniques to create patterns on silk and be introduced to MX dyes.

Interested to begin sewing? Join us in creating unique projects as you learn to sew! You will learn how to use a sewing machine, from threading the machine to creating a topstitch. This class will introduce basic techniques including the purpose of different stitches as well as appropriate fabric selection.
