Plaudits for newEar abound … in Concert 3: Vocalissimus! Here’s what the Kansas City Star had to say:
“Once again, newEar’s … splendid musicianship almost never gets in the way of the music itself.”
Reports from sources embedded within rehearsals for both newEar and Owen/Cox Dance Group confirm our suspicions: that preparations continue to amplify for this superb melding of some of Kansas City’s most zealous, daring artists! Works by Louis Andriessen, Brad Cox, Jacob TV, and HyeKyung Lee will merge with the choreography of Jennifer Owen. Meet the Composer
HyeKyung Lee
Korean-American composer HyeKyung Lee, a member of the faculty at Denison University, is amongst the most frequently lauded contemporary composers, particularly of electro-acoustic music. newEar will perform her Shadowing (2006), for clarinet and alto saxophone, as a featured work on the upcoming Concert 4: Chromatic Collaboration with the Owen/Cox Dance Group, April 29 & 30. A video of the work can be found on YouTube. Through the generosity of Meet the Composer’s MetLife Creative Connections program, newEar has been awarded a grant to bring Ms. Lee to Kansas City to work with our performers! Ms. Lee will talk about her work at the pre-concert talk on Friday, April 29 and the post-concert dialogue on Saturday, April 30.
Funded in part through Meet The Composer’s MetLife Creative Connections program.
