Sponsored: Creative Connections Breakfast Celebrates Arts, Health, and Community

The Arts Council of Johnson County invites you to the 2025 Creative Connections Breakfast, held December 3 from 8–10am at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center. This annual event brings together artists, patrons, civic leaders, and advocates to celebrate the transformative power of the arts in Johnson County.

This year’s keynote speaker, dancer and choreographer Suzanne Ryanstrati, will explore the intersection of arts and health, sharing how movement and creative expression can foster healing, resilience, and community well-being.

Guests will enjoy a catered breakfast and live performances by Theatre in the Park’s Blue Curtain Project, a professional theatre initiative focused on educational engagement for young minds. Known for its high-quality productions, the Blue Curtain Project selects stories that invite audiences to think and learn, pairing each performance with activities and workshops aligned to current educational standards. It’s a vibrant example of how the arts can ignite curiosity and support lifelong learning. Poet, Huascar Medina will close the event with a poetry reading. Huascar served as Poet Laureate of Kansas from 2019 to 2022. His work has appeared in the Flint Hills Review, Gasconade Review, Green Mountains Review, KANSAS! Magazine, Latino Book Review, and The New York Times. The Arts Council will also present the annual Johnson County Arts Advocate Awards to this year’s recipients.

When we invest in the arts we invest in our community. Creative Connections is an opportunity to celebrate arts and creativity as catalysts for well-being, economic vitality, and quality of life. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or new to the arts community, this event offers a meaningful way to connect, reflect, and be inspired.
