St. Joseph music lovers are in for a rare and unforgettable treat this winter. The St. Joseph Community Chorus (SJCC) is thrilled to welcome the internationally acclaimed vocal jazz quartet New York Voices to the historic Missouri Theater on Saturday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. This special evening brings world-class jazz artistry to our community — and offers audiences the unique opportunity to experience a live collaboration between New York Voices and SJCC.
Founded in New York City in 1987, New York Voices has earned global recognition for their impeccable musicianship, intricate harmonies, and inventive interpretations of jazz standards, contemporary compositions, and original works. Frequently compared to legendary groups such as The Manhattan Transfer and Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, the quartet blends swing, bebop, Latin rhythms and modern jazz into a sound that is both sophisticated and exhilarating.
Over the course of their celebrated career, New York Voices has released more than 20 albums and collaborated with major jazz orchestras and symphonies around the world. Their impressive list of collaborators includes iconic artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Paquito D’Rivera, Ivan Lins and the Count Basie Orchestra. Beyond the stage, the members are also passionate educators, mentoring young musicians through university residencies, masterclasses, and workshops across the globe.
Adding even more significance to this performance, 2026 marks one of the final touring seasons for New York Voices, making this concert a special opportunity to experience their artistry live.
Joining the celebration of jazz will be “The Standard” from Kansas City Kansas Community College, under the direction of John Stafford. KCKCC is widely recognized for having one of the top vocal jazz programs in the country, and their participation will make this evening even more exciting and dynamic.
