The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art opened three new exhibitions this winter, all of which are on view through May 3: Linda Lighton: Love & War, A Fifty-Year Survey, 1975-2025, Angeline Rivas: I Had a Dark Night of the Soul and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt and Visionary: The Work of Michael Brantley.

Northland Symphony Orchestra, featuring the Elgar Cello Concerto and Beethoven

The Northland Symphony is pleased to welcome Susie Yang, Associate Principal Cellist of the Kansas City Symphony as soloist for Elgar’s powerful Cello Concerto. The concert will also feature Beethoven’s Second Symphony. Join us on Sunday, February 22 at 3:00pm at North Kansas City High School. Northland Symphony concerts are always free, casual, and held in accessible venues with free parking.

The Coterie

The Coterie presents the world premiere of The Drum Closet, a new play written by Coterie alum Tosin Morohunfola, that is a coming-of-age story about two young, drum-loving African American brothers who race to become drumline section leader and make their immigrant mother proud while navigating a white high school, its bias, bullying, and powers-that-be. Live on The Coterie’s mainstage for families with ages 12 and older, January 28 – February 2.
