Join Ward Parkway Center August 9-11 as the shopping center hosts its Summer Art Fair. All weekend long local artists, music and more will be featured. Artists’ work will be showcased in booths throughout the mall for guests to walk around, view and shop. The booths will include, but not be limited to, photography, paintings, jewelry and sculptures. Guests can also enjoy free, live outdoor concerts out on the Pavilion Friday and Saturday night from 7-9 pm as a part of Ward Parkway’s Summer Music Series. On Friday evening, Quite Frankly will perform with Seyko taking the stage on Saturday night. After the music series, grab a bite to eat at one of the center’s restaurants surrounding the Pavilion such as Smitty’s Garage Burger and Beer or Charleston’s Restaurant. The Lyric’s “Cruzar la Cara de la Luna” Infuses Opera with Mariachi
Like many Kansas Citians this time of year, the Lyric Opera is going south of the border, with the first ever mariachi opera: “Cruzar la Cara de la Luna” (“To Cross the Face of the Moon”). Though it premiered in 2010 (at the Houston Grand Opera), this intergenerational story of a Mexican family torn apart by migration is timelier and more resonant than ever.
