The Kansas City Museum’s 11th Annual Día de los Muertos celebration will explore the history and cultural traditions of Mexico and will be presented in partnership with the Mattie Rhodes Art Center, Crossroads Hotel, Stone Lion Puppet Theatre, Mi Mercado Fresh Market and La Mega KC radio.
All proceeds directly support education and public programming at the Kansas City Museum.
Tickets to Día de los Muertos include the following activities:
- Live music by Mariachi Estrella KC.
- Puppetry by Stone Lion Puppet Theatre.
- Live dance performances by Grupo Folklorico Izcalli.
- Free face painting for children by artist Jessica Manco, Kathryn Messick, and the Van Horn Art Department at Cafe 3218 located on the first floor of the museum.
- Participation in the indoor and outdoor community altars by bringing items to add. Items placed at the altar will not be returned.
In addition to the activities, attendees have access to the following:
- Shop at Wisteria, the museum’s boutique located inside on the first floor, for some fun and colorful Day of the Dead items. As well as local vendors located outside (full list coming soon).
- Purchase food and beverages from local food trucks!
- Purchase margaritas, mexican beer, sangria from Elixir on the Lawn.
NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS WILL BE PERMITTED. Please help us support local!

- Expect to spend about 1.5 hours at this event. It’s all outdoors, so wear comfortable shoes!
- Enter from Gladstone Blvd., south/front gates. Street parking only on both sides of Gladstone Blvd. and along the museum. Please do not block personal driveways and respect City parking signs, you will be towed.

- Only the first floor of the museum will be open to the public. Restrooms are located on the lower level of the museum.
- Lawn chairs and blankets welcome.
