A World of Choices at the Kauffman Center This Fall

Performances this fall at the Kauffman Center will include an international flavor of musical selections, from the best-selling R&B group of all time to London’s The Kingdom Choir. Spanning folk to pop to legends of rock, all genres of music are represented. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy an evening of adventure discovering some of the most exotic locales and animals on Earth. This variety follows the Kauffman Center’s aim to provide excellent and diverse performing arts experiences that reach audiences throughout, and beyond, the Kansas City region.

The Kingdom Choir
Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at 7 p.m.
London’s The Kingdom Choir is best known for their show-stopping rendition of “Stand By Me” at the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May 2018. The performance, seen by a global audience of over 2 billion, instantly catapulted The Kingdom Choir to worldwide fame. Founded in 1994 by award-winning conductor Karen Gibson, the choir draws from various Christian traditions to create a sound that reflects the community they share through their warm energy and enthusiastic performances.

Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild Live!
Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.
Through the jungles of Rwanda to the savannas of Australia, Jungle Jack Hanna has explored the corners of the globe as one of the most respected animal ambassadors and America’s favorite zookeeper. In Into the Wild Live! Hanna will share stories — from brushing a hippo’s teeth to eating with wombats — and footage from his worldwide adventures. Of course, a visit from Jungle Jack would not be complete without an array of animals such as cheetahs, kangaroos, penguins and many more. Presented by Nationwide.

Boyz II Men

Boyz II Men remains one of the most iconic R&B groups in music history, offering fans a rich catalogue of hits filled with smooth harmonies and enduring themes. The band has penned and performed some of the most celebrated classics of the past two decades and continues to create timeless hits that appeal to fans across all generations. Throughout their 25-year career, Boyz II Men has won four GRAMMY Awards, nine American Music Awards, nine Soul Train Awards and three Billboard Awards. The trio holds the distinction of being the best-selling R&B group of all time, with 60 million albums sold.

A Tribute to The Beatles’ White Album

In celebration of The Beatles’ 50th anniversary of the White Album, the Kauffman Center welcomes a tribute to The Beatles’ White Album. This performance features an all-star lineup including Christopher Cross, Todd Rundgren, Micky Dolenz (The Monkees), Jason Scheff (Chicago), Joey Molland (Badfinger), and musical director Joey Curatolo, who also directed music for RAIN: A Tribute to The Beatles.

Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain & Edgar Meyer with special guest Rakesh Chaurasia
Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at 7 p.m.
Béla Fleck has reinvented the image and sound of the banjo through a remarkable performing and recording career. Zakir Hussain is a tabla player of the highest order, whose brilliant performances have earned him worldwide fame. Edgar Meyer (double bass) is an accomplished composer and masterful instrumentalist. Join this super-group and special guest flutist Rakesh Chaurasia for a can’t-miss musical experience.

Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin

Carpenter and Colvin, friends for more than 30 years, will appear on stage together as an intimate acoustic duo, swapping songs and sharing stories. This special show will feature the acclaimed songwriters performing material from their vast catalogues as well as some of their favorite songs.

Thirty years after they began releasing records, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers continue to forge their own way in the music business.
