Founded in 2004, Summit Art consists of a talented group of more than 100 local artists whose mission is to encourage and promote the visual arts throughout Lee’s Summit and surrounding communities. Summit Art strives to increase community involvement in the arts through exhibits, classes, Got Art Gallery and Summit Art Festival.
Our group ranges from newly exhibiting artists to professionals who strive to propel each other forward in our craft. Members of all skill levels can attend group photography and painting sessions where they gather with other artist members to discuss and critique their work. These gatherings provide emerging artists the opportunity to gain valuable insight and feedback from other working professionals in an intimate setting.
Summit Art works to foster artistic ability among its members and the community. They are proud to be able to award annual scholarships to deserving Lee’s Summit High School seniors who will be pursuing an art major in college.
The work of many Summit Art artists may be viewed continually at the Summit Art Gallery located in Saint Luke’s East Hospital, a partner and valued supporter of Summit Art. Artwork lines the hallways and waiting rooms of the facility, hoping to bring joy and inspiration to the many employees, patients and visitors to the hospital. Artwork can also be found in the gift shop.
Summit Arts signature event the Summit Art Festival takes place in Downtown Lee’s Summit October 6-8th. This event is in its 10th year and is put on entirely by volunteers.
