Albrecht-Kemper Museum Hosts 2nd Annual Art Fair

This summer the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art will be hosting its second annual AKMA Art Fair in June. This fair is a chance for fine artists to connect with the community and sell their works. The AKMA created the event in 2022 as part of the museum’s ongoing efforts to create accessible, welcoming programs for audiences with diverse levels of familiarity with the visual arts.

Last year’s inaugural event had 14 exhibiting artists and over 300 attendees. Eric Fuson, Executive Director, says, “The success of our first art fair last year turned this into an annual event. Creating opportunities for area artists is core to our mission, and the art fair is a great addition to that goal. Art, food, live music, and activities for children make for a great day to show your support.”

Wanda Taylor, a 2022 exhibitor, explained her reason for participating, “I like doing it for the museum. This is a chance to be on the ground floor of something I think will grow into something great.” Meeting artists in person allows visitors to learn more about how art is created and perhaps find an original piece of art for their own collection.

This free all-day event will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 3, 2023. It will include local fine art booths, face painting, balloon making, musical performances, art making, and food and drink options for an audience of all ages. The museum will also be open and free for all visitors.

The Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art is located at 2818 Frederick Ave., Saint Joseph, Missouri, 64506. If you are interested in seeing if there are still exhibitor spots available, please contact the museum at 816-233-7003.

Financial assistance is provided by the St. Joseph, Missouri Visitors Bureau.
