La bohème’s Chaotic Creation
La bohème seems to be the perfect opera. The story is romantic, but full of high-spirited comedy; the libretto poetic, yet concise; the melodies memorable and ideally suited to each situation; the orchestration heartfelt and lush. Bohème caught the public’s interest at its premiere in 1896, and has been a part of the standard operatic repertoire ever since.

It all began with a teacher. The religion we recognize as Buddhism was born in the sixth century BCE from the decision of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni to teach his philosophy and methods for achieving enlightenment to others. Over time, Buddhism traveled and its practices evolved, but it never lost its connection to the original teacher, Shakyamuni.
