Terpsichore, the Muse of Dance, has a strong ally in the Harriman-Jewell Series. From its very first program in 1965, which featured New York City Ballet’s Patricia McBride and Edward Villella, the Harriman-Jewell Series has been committed to bringing the best of dance to Kansas City. That strong tradition continues with the Series’ 2017-2018 season, which features three outstanding dance programs.

When Harry S. Truman suddenly became president in 1945, he inherited not just a world war and tumultuous global situation, but he also soon discovered that the White House he and his family moved into was on the brink of collapse. Floors swayed, joints popped and rats scurried across the floor through holes in the walls. Something had to be done, and Truman was just the president to do it.

New Works Playwright Competition Winner Workshop at OCTA
Local playwright Michelle Tyrene Johnson, winner of Olathe Civic Theatre Association’s inaugural New Works Playwright Competition, returns for the Winner Workshop of the competition’s wildly popular script, The Green Book Wine Club Train Trip. Last fall, local playwrights were invited to submit teasers of never-before-seen scripts, with the top five performed as script-in-hand readings during the March semi-finals.
