Get ready to be serenaded all over Liberty, from cozy cafes to sunny parks and maybe even your friendly neighbor’s porch from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Make Music Day is a free event that encourages individuals to come together and celebrate music as a community. On Friday, June 21, hundreds of cities in the US and around the world will mark the beginning of summer with music all day long! Make Music Liberty is hosted by the Liberty Arts Commission and sponsored by the City of Liberty. Throughout the day there will be an information booth set up at the corner of Main and Franklin streets (in front of Quilting Is My Therapy at 2 E. Franklin St.) where spectators can stop by for a list of performances, performance times and help finding venues.
For those lunchtime revelers, brace yourself for a frosty surprise! Kona Ice will be chilling at Rotary Plaza (100 W. Franklin St.) dishing out FREE Kona Ice to the first 100 guests from 12 – 2 p.m.! Don’t miss this cool treat while you wander around to the various performances!
Mass Appeal Events
Get ready to experience a whirlwind of crowd-pleasing activities all day long! Kick off with a harmonica jam session led by the one and only Phil Duncan at the First Presbyterian Church gazebo (138 N. Main St.) at 5:30 p.m. Dive into the world of harmonica playing and even score your own harmonica to take home for some practice! Later, head over to the City Hall Plaza (101 E. Kansas St.) to join Djembe Dejanes for an epic drum circle from 6 – 8 p.m. Let the rhythmic fun begin!

You won’t want to miss these crowd favorite performances!! Starting things off around the lunch hour, the STRUM Ukulele Band will be at the Rotary Plaza (100 W. Franklin St.) from 12 – 1:30 p.m. It’s a show you can’t afford to miss! And guess who’s back for more fun? The Heartland Men’s Chorus and Quartet, a favorite from MMD 2023! Starting at 6:30 p.m. on the south steps of the Clay County Administration Building (1 Courthouse Square), this group is sure to excite. Their lively performance will have you tapping your feet and joining in the fun! Wrapping up the night, Tom’s Town will be jazzing it up with a special after-hours show at the Corbin Theatre (502 N. Water St.) from 8 – 10 p.m. Get ready to be transported back in time to the swinging jazz era of Kansas City in the 30s and 40s. Let the good times roll!
