Pre Show talk by Bill Shapiro at 7pm
On Friday June 17th The Folly Theater is proud to present Roger McGuinn the co-founder and front man of the seminal rock band, The Byrds. In 1965 they released “Mr Tambourine Man” and turned Bob Dylan’s folk rock concept into one of the most popular and influential musical genres of rocks’ golden era. Filled
with talented musicians, The Byrds in thier original incarnation stayed intact for less than two years; but, with new talents joining as all but McGuinn moved on, they released a half dozen more albums that influenced much of the sound of popular music including country rock which today dominates the pop charts. McGuinn has remained an active, working musician ever since. He was a featured member of Dylans’ infamous “Rolling Thunder Revue” and has released cd’s under his own name throughout that period. He is a true guitar virtuoso, his 12 string Rickenbacker was The Byrds’ signature sound.
