Editor’s Weekend Calendar Picks, April 13 – 16

We have a new batch of calendar picks for Easter selected by KC Studio editor Alice Thorson. This is your last weekend to see Kansas City Repertory Theatre‘s production of the classic A Raisin in the Sun. Tonight, tomorrow and Sunday, Kansas City Symphony celebrates James Bond and other classic spy movie soundtracks. And tonight, the Conservatory Jazz Bands play at the Folly. On Saturday, take the kids to the Kemper for an “ART-astic” scavenger hunt. Easter Sunday, the Nelson serves brunch for the whole family in Rozzell Court. For more ideas this weekend, visit Kansas City’s most comprehensive arts calendar at kcstudio.org/events.

A RAISIN IN THE SUN

March 24 – April 16
Spencer Theatre, Olson PAC, UMKC Campus

Raisin is a story that revolves around the Younger family that remains as universally relevant and deeply relatable today as it was more than 60 years ago when it first hit Broadway. This three-generation family yearns for different versions of a better life and the American Dream in the rapidly changing world of 1950s Chicago. These opposing forces both unite and divide the family, as each grapple with the social issues that challenge their identity and the personal choices that will determine their future. Ultimately, A Raisin in the Sun celebrates faith, courage, and the human spirit.
