The move into contemporary Christian music came naturally. “I’ve been heading in the direction for the last few years. I simply have felt moved to write and sing more about God’s Word and how He is moving in my life.” She sings with the praise team at Colonial Presbyterian Church and offers original songs when appropriate. “I don’t expect a response when I sing and often don’t know how songs are received. I don’t even think about it. I just offer up to God what He asked me to create.”
Eyler says River Wide proved challenging, though. “I created, recorded and produced by myself at home for the first time with very basic equipment. The learning curve was great, let’s just say. It was also a challenge to record in my living room as I have two very active little boys always running around. I would have to mostly record at night and often was one very tired mama,” she says.
Her inspiration comes from the Bible, which she reads daily. “ It is always my hope that the songs reflect my love for Jesus Christ, and through the tunes, I pray someone else dives deeper into their Bible.”
The track that gave the album its title, River Wide, is her favorite cut from this CD. “It’s based from Isaiah 41:18 — ‘I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs.’ This verse tells me God can do the impossible when we as humans cannot. When we see wilderness, He sees far beyond to an oasis of life. It’s about having godly vision. Eyes to see things that are possible.”
