The Nutcracker and the Mouse King
From traditional Irish carols to contemporary festive songs, create holiday memories with family and friends at the Midwest Trust Center this December.
Enjoy Christmas with the Celts
Celebrating 14 years of successful national touring, Christmas with the Celts performs a wonderful combination of timeless ancient Irish Christmas carols and lively Irish dance to modern contemporary songs with Irish instrumentation. The top Irish musicians have united with the finest Nashville players to create the new sound and energy of the Celts. Each performance is a fresh hybrid of Irish Americana combining their own rootsy stylings and tight vocal harmonies with fiery Irish Trad instrumentals. See them live Tuesday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m.
Owen/Cox Dance Group Brings Back a Reimagined Classic
Almost everyone is familiar with the traditional version of the holiday story, “The Nutcracker.” Far fewer are aware of the original and notably darker inspiration for this beloved ballet – E.T.A. Hoffman’s 1816 story, “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.” Owen/Cox Dance Group, in partnership with The People’s Liberation Big Band of Kansas City, brings their highly unique, contemporary jazz adaptation of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King back to the Polsky Theatre stage this holiday season! Audiences have two chances to see the new holiday classic: Friday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 15, at 2 p.m. Extend your festivities by purchasing tickets to the Holiday High Tea, following the Sunday performance.
