Introducing the 12th Season at The White Theatre

Excitement is in the air as The Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City announces its 2016-2017 season of arts and cultural offerings at The White Theatre.

Now in its 12th season, The White Theatre, produced by The Jā€™s reimagined Arts + Culture Department, includes something for everyone, from musicals and concerts to visual arts and literature presentations. The powerhouse season includes four locally-produced shows, several musical concerts, a choreography showcase and a new Artist-in-Residence offering with the Kinnor Philharmonic.

Becoming Dr. Ruth, September, 10 + 11 | One-woman show showcasing Dr. Ruth Westheimerā€™s life before she was a famous sex therapist, From fleeing the Nazis in the Kindertransport, joining the Haganah in Jerusalem as a scout and sniper, and her struggles to succeed as a single mother coming to America.

Sunset Boulevard, November, 5-20 | Sunset Boulevard weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition.Ā This 1995 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical features the music ofĀ Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Lost In Yonkers, February, 11-19, 2017 | Set in the 1940s, two brothers find their lives turned upside down after moving in with their grandmother and absent-minded aunt in Neil Simon’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning semi-autobiographical play.

Open Stage at The J, March 5, 2017 | First annual choreography festival showcases original work from Kansas Cityā€™s best dancers and dance companies. Ā Featuring Kansas City Ballet II, Suzanne Ryan Strati, Point B, Heartlines, Kacico Dance and many more.

Fahrenheit 451, March 25-April 2, 2017 | In an adaptation of the Ray Bradbury novel about a future society that has banned all reading material and the job of the firemen is to keep the fires at 451 degrees: the temperature that paper burns. A fireman begins to re-think his job when he meets a book-loving girl.

Kansas City Chorale Concert, April 9, 2017 | Grammy award-winning Kansas City Chorale and their performance of ā€œShirim Yehudim: Music of the Jewish Tradition.ā€

Disneyā€™s Beauty & the Beast, July 8-23, 2017 | The most beautiful love story ever told comes to life in this lush, romanticĀ Broadway musical for all generations (*a co-production with Theatre in the Park).

Arts + Culture at The J is proud to introduce their new Artist in-Residence, the Kinnor Philharmonic. An ensemble composed of both Jewish and non-Jewish musicians, Kinnor Philharmonic shares historical connections through educational artistry, with performances that reflect the traditions of the symphonic repertoire and the diversity of Jewish heritage. Kinnor Philharmonic will offer two concerts: January 1st + June 11th, 2017.

The season ticket program has been revamped to provide preferred seating, free and easy ticket exchanges and a design-your-own flexible package ranging from ā€œpick fourā€, ā€œpick 6ā€ to the full season plus Kinnor. Season tickets are on sale now and ticket may be purchased for as low as $60. In addition, the Patron ticket program has been enhanced to provide additional ā€œperksā€ at every level including first choice seating, seatback surprises and complimentary tickets.
