Lawrence Arts Center’s Free State Festival is a multi-disciplinary Festival of ideas, film, live music, and outdoor art installations that takes place in the Lawrence Cultural Arts District from June 22-28.
IDEAS
Hear insights from artists, writers, comics, scholars, filmmakers, futurists, journalists, scientists, and more. Panel discussions, presentations, and community forums give audience members plenty of ways to participate and engage.
FILM
The Free State Festival features an exciting collection of features, shorts, and documentaries by independent filmmakers from around the world.
MUSIC
Live music performed at venues across the Lawrence Cultural District is a mainstay of the Free State Festival. The Festival features full band stage performances to accompany film screenings, large scale outdoor concerts, and single instrument experimental performances in intimate venues.
ART
Talented visual artists illuminate the Cultural District with a dazzling display of colors and movement. Innovative outdoor digital media projections transform the cityscape and delight passersby.
