Lyric Arts Trio Performs May 18 at Westport Center for the Arts Brown Bag Concert

The 18th season of the Westport Center for the Arts’ Brown Bag Concert Series concludes with a performance by the Lyric Arts Trio at 12:10 p.m., Friday, May 18.

The Lyric Arts Trio — soprano Sarah Tannehill Anderson, clarinetist Elena Lence Talley and pianist Daniel Velicer – is a chamber music group that specializes in programs of solos, duos and trios. The  group has performed at the OK Mozart Festival, Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City, and State Fair Community College in Missouri.

Anderson has performed leading operatic roles with the with the Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Opera Omaha, Fort Worth Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and the Saarländisches Staatstheatre in Saarbrücken, Germany. She is a member of the KC Chorale and teaches voice in Overland Park and at William Jewell College.

Talley is the founder of the Lyric Arts Trio. She performs frequently with the Kansas City Symphony and has performed with the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Kansas City, the Missouri Symphony, the Kansas City Camerata and the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra.

Velicer performs with the Kansas City Symphony and Kansas City Ballet outreach programs, and performs as an accompanist and vocal coach. He has helped prepare soloists for performances with the  Kansas City Symphony, the Kansas City Ballet, and the University of Missouri at Kansas City for the nationally acclaimed Stravinsky Festival.

The concert will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 Westport Road. Concert admission is free, but donations are welcome. A complimentary reception, with homemade cookies and coffee provided by Westport Coffee House, will be held immediately after the concert.

Westport Center for the Arts was founded in 2006 to support community artists and the arts. In addition to the monthly Brown Bag Concerts, WCA presents Readers’ Theater, dance performances, art exhibitions and a foreign film series.
