Loads of people turn out every year for the Art of Photography exhibition at the Prairie Village Arts Council’s R.G. Endres Gallery to see the colorful, artistic, and thought-provoking pictures of their local citizens and photographers of the surrounding region, and this year’s show is shaping up to be one of the best in memory. More than $3,500 in cash awards will be given to the top winners at the Art of Photography opening night, May 14, 2025 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages on hand to enjoy while partaking in the show.
This year’s judge, Ron Berg of TorchHouse Studio, will award prizes in the categories of People and Portraits of People; Architecture, Landscapes, and Nature/Wildlife; and Abstract/non-traditional/photo collage/highly digitally enhanced. A Peoples’ Choice award of $250 will also be presented; voted on by event attendees and virtual voters.

Berg reports that the photos entered this year represented a wide range of subject matter and artistic approaches, making for challenging decisions for the awards. “I leaned toward entries that showed creative thinking or brought a fresh take on familiar ideas, or thinking outside the box,” Berg says.
The winners are a secret until opening night, but we can say this much: Visitors to the the 8th Annual Art of Photography exhibition will see the world through the eyes and lenses of 28 artists presenting 42 photos ranging from faraway lands to charming domestic scenes, and from surprising animals to glorious sunsets.
It’s easy to visit the exhibition – it’s a mere stroll through the municipal building at 7700 Mission Road in Prairie Village. The current show featuring the work of regional photographers will be on view at the R.G. Endres Gallery until July 12, 2025.
The exhibit is planned and hosted annually by the Prairie Village Arts Council and supported in part by the Prairie Village Municipal Foundation. More information at www.artspv.org/aop2025.html.
