Red Star Studios, in collaboration with the Belger Arts Center, Kansas City Art Institute, and Barry Friedman Ltd., is pleased to present an exhibition of works by Akio Takamori. Titled LUST, the exhibition includes work previously exhibited at Barry Friedman Ltd., a New York gallery; newer work created specifically for the new Red Star Studios location in Belger Crane Yard Studios; and lithographic prints created by Akio Takamori with master printer, Michael Sims, founder of The Lawrence Lithography Workshop. LUST opens on First Friday, May 3 and continues through August 24, 2013. Red Star Studios presents new work by resident artist Jessica Brandl. Brandl explores the concept of Manifest Destiny by painting narrative monochromatic scenes on functional ceramics. Her quiet, reflective, (and at times) humorous works tell stories of the eternal search for better opportunities. This exhibition marks the culmination of her 18-month residency at Red Star Studios.
This exhibition opens on first Friday, May 3, with an opening reception from 6-9PM.
