The 2016 Featured artist for our 9th Annual Summit Art Festival is Andrew Batcheller, a Kansas City native who has called Joplin his home for the last decade. Batcheller has a long history with Summit Art. In 2010, he had his first gallery exhibit at GOT Art Gallery: Home of Summit Art. Since that time he has shown in festivals and galleries around the metro. In 2014, he was selected as the “Best of Show’ winner in the 7th Annual Summit Art Festival. Andrew Batcheller classifies his work as “portraiture” using birds as analogies for the human condition. The emotional quality of his work evokes thoughtful contemplation of our own human drama. His paintings are a part of national and international collections. You can find him in booth #33 at the corner of SW Main and 3rd St during this years festival.
