The Summit Art Festival is a 3-day outdoor fine art festival that takes place in historic Downtown Lee’s Summit. The event includes over 90 artists booths featuring local, regional and national artists, live music and food court and more. The event is organized by Summit Art in partnership with Downtown Lee’s Summit.
As part of the festival art students from all Lee’s Summit R-7 high schools and middle schools are participating in the Summit Art Festival, scheduled for Oct. 6, 7 and 8th in Downtown Lee’s Summit. More than 200 pieces of student work will be displayed throughout the event in the Lee’s Summit R7 Student Art Pavilion.
In addition, the middle and high school students will take part in Stuck on Art, an interactive art project. On Saturday morning Oct. 7, from 10 am to 1 pm, teams of 4-6 students from each of the six schools will create a work of art using black masking tape on a 3-foot-by-8-foot white vinyl banner. The project theme for 2017 is “Celebrate the Arts.” This is a fun interactive mural competition that is judged by local artist. The murals are then left on display for the duration of the event for festival goers to view.
While families visit Downtown Lee’s Summit for the Summit Art Festival they will want to make sure they stop by the T-Mobile Kids Zone. Under the kids zone tent there will be a face painter, a henna artist, FREE Spin Art and button making station hosted by local organizations.
