Supporting a Grassroots Arts Organization Rooted in Our Community

Founded by a group of local artists and art enthusiasts, the Kansas City Artists Coalition (KCAC) has been dedicated to promoting and supporting the arts in our community for over 48 years. Grassroots organizations, such as KCAC, are vital to stabilizing communities as they provide a platform for people to come together and work toward a common goal. These organizations are often started by people who are passionate about making a difference and who have a deep understanding of the needs of their community.

By working at a local level to support artists, the Kansas City Artists Coalition is able to build strong relationships with community members, foster a sense of belonging and collective responsibility, and promote visual arts awareness. The Kansas City Artists Coalition strives to create space for artists of all levels and backgrounds to come together and showcase their work, collaborate and connect with one another. KCAC’s longevity can be attributed to its dedication to the organization’s mission, in addition to a long history of integrity, openness and inclusiveness in its programming and operations.

For the past 40 years, KCAC’s efforts have been sustained by an annual art auction in which collectors and artists come together to support the organization. This year, the Kansas City Artists Coalition will host its 41st Annual Art Auction. Collectors, art enthusiasts and friends of the Coalition know this is the best night of the year to acquire art from sought-after established and emerging artists. The quality and quantity of art (at every price point) is presented via silent and live auctions, which makes for a thrilling night of bidding and merriment not to be missed!

KCAC’s 41st Annual Art Auction will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at the El Torreon Event Space in Midtown Kansas City. Prior to the event, one may visit the Kansas City Artists Coalition in January and February to preview the many great artworks that will be included in the auction.

KCAC is honored and delighted to announce the Honorary Chairs of the 2024 Annual Art Auction: Joe Bussell and Fred Trease. Joe and Fred are both visual artists, avid collectors of local art and longtime supporters of the arts in Kansas City as well as the Artists Coalition. KCAC is also thrilled to introduce Jane Booth as the Honorary Artist for this year’s event. Jane is a visual artist with a long history and deep connections to the Kansas City Artists Coalition. Her paintings can be found in over 600 private and corporate collections worldwide including: Kansas University Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri; Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cisco Systems, H&R Block World Headquarters and Hilton Hotels, as well as the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Sedalia, Missouri.

You are invited to experience an unforgettable art event at the KCAC Annual Art Auction, where every penny raised goes toward funding operations, exhibitions and programs for the Kansas City Artists Coalition! Tickets to this year’s auction may be purchased online via KCAC’s website. It’s a great opportunity to snag the most coveted pieces from the hottest established and up-and-coming artists.

Be delighted by the exciting bidding process and enjoy the night to the fullest — together, we can make a positive impact through the power of art!
