The Harriman-Jewell Series’ 59th season is chock-full of longtime favorites like Emanuel Ax, as well as exciting new offerings, including a collaboration with the Mark Morris Dance Group celebrating the late, great Kansas City native Burt Bacharach.
In describing his own work, the great American dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey once wrote, “Its roots are in American Negro culture, which is part of the whole country’s heritage, but the dance speaks to everyone.”

Voices and Vision: Celebrating Black Classical Music Artists in “Our Song, Our Story”
“Our Song, Our Story: The New Generation of Black Voices” was more than a recital of arias and art songs. It was a tribute to the legacy of Black excellence.
This year, the Harriman-Jewell Series presents Voctave, one of the most popular vocal ensembles in America, in its Kansas City debut, on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Folly Theater.
