“The Iceman Cometh” opens tonight at MET/Warwick Theater

Eugene O’Neill’s classic opens Friday, January 13th at 7PM at the historic Warwick Theater. This production is only tackled perhaps once in a generation locally. Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre (MET) is known for tackling challenging, rarely produced masterworks successfully. That tradition continues with THE ICEMAN COMETH, still a powerhouse play a century after its debut. Featuring an exciting cast chock full of local talent, Kansas City’s John Cleary leads the cast as Hickey, whose arrival is life-changing for his friends.

The drama begins as the sad-sack patrons of a New York City bar await the arrival of salesman and drinking buddy Theodore Hickman. Known to the regulars of the watering hole as the life of the party, he passionately encourages his fellow alcoholics to give up their pipe dreams and embrace their harsh realities. As Hickey makes his case for letting go of all delusions, to the resentment of his friends, secrets from his own past are revealed. A mesmerizing play from one of America’s greatest playwrights.

Additional show and ticket information available via MET’s website at www.metkc.org. The Warwick Theater is located at 3927 Main Street, KCMO 64111.
