Time Stands Still at Unicorn Theatre

The Unicorn’s next BOLD NEW PLAY this season explores the extremities of relationships. Donald Margulies’ play TIME STANDS STILL focuses on Sarah, a photo journalist who has just returned home from Iraq after being injured by a roadside bomb, and her boyfriend James, a journalist who is swamped by guilt after leaving her there alone.

When the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life, everything changes in a flash. Sidonie Garrett directs this piece which features Carla Noack as Sarah Goodwin, David Fritts as her boyfriend James Dodd, Mark Robbins as their editor Richard Ehrlich and Ashlee LaPine as Richard’s younger girlfriend Mandy Bloom.

TIME STANDS STILL runs through April 29. This will play on the Unicorn’s Mainstage located at 3828 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64111. Performances Tuesday through Thursday are at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Stay with the cast and the director April 22 and 24 for a talk back with the director and actors immediately following the performance.

About Playwright Donald Margulies
Donald Margulies’ many plays include Brooklyn Boy, Sight Unseen (Produced by Unicorn Theatre in 1994) and Collected
Stories. He received the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Dinner with Friends which was later made into an Emmy Awardnominated
film for HBO, and Collected Stories was presented on PBS. Currently, he is adapting the novel Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides into an HBO series. Mr. Margulies has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, The New York Foundation for the Arts, and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. He was the recipient of the 2000 Sidney Kingsley Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Theatre by a playwright.

Director Sidonie Garrett most recent directing credits at the Unicorn include In The Next Room or the vibrator play, Iron Kisses and The Retreat from Moscow. She is also the Producing Artistic Director of Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.
